Democracy A way of governing where the people have the power to make decisions, either directly or through elected representatives

Dictatorship A system where one person or a small group has all the power and makes decisions without the people’s consent.

Constitution The highest set of laws and rules that explain how a country is run and what rights people have.

Representative democracy A type of democracy where people vote for representatives (politicians or parties) to make decisions for them.

Direct democracy A type of democracy where people vote directly on laws or decisions instead of choosing representatives.

Political rights Rights that allow people to take part in politics, such as voting, joining parties, or running for office.

Freedom of expression The right to say, write, or share your opinions, as long as you do not spread hate or lies.

Freedom of assembly The right to meet with others in groups, join protests, or create associations.

Majority rule The principle that the option with the most votes wins, while still respecting the rights of others.

Minority rights Protections for smaller groups in society so they are treated fairly, even if the majority disagrees with them.

Equality before the law The idea that everyone must follow the same laws and has the same legal rights, no matter who they are.

Human rights Basic rights and freedoms that every person has, such as the right to life, equality, and free speech.

Participation Taking part in decision-making or activities that affect society, such as voting, protesting, or joining a group.
