Introduction to Spellic.com in English

1 Fun

Everybody knows that it's easier to learn, and you are able to try harder, if it's fun.

Spellic.com offer you several ways to do exercises and fits everybody, whether you have just started to learn a new language or are studying languages at the university.

2 For the beginners

If you have just started to learn a new language, you sometimes know the right word, but it can be hard to get the spelling right.

In our version of Memory you just have to match the two words that belong together.
The words in the game board are selected at random every time.
To start your exercises in this way is a guaranteed success.

Try memory here
(Then just click on Memory).

3 Increase the degree of difficulty

If you want to increase the level of difficulty, you can try games like Hangman.
If you like to do a bit of thinking we offer Word shuffle

In these games you have to enter the letters but you know how many they are.

After a while you have learned most of the words by heart,
you get more correct answers in shorter time and just want to continue.

4 Search in dictionary

The dictionary is based on all the words that users have entered and some free dictionaries.

You search among all the words, in all languages, at the same time!

You don't have to spell correctly. A sophisticated search algorithm finds the words most similar to the one you entered.
The words are sorted with the most similar word at the top.

You are prompted the word in the first language and shall enter the translation.

Possibility to have synonyms - Select if you must enter all, or just one.

Fill in the gap - Fill in the missing word in a sentence.

Question with choices - Select the correct answer from a list of choices.

Verb inflections - here you have to enter the inflections in the correct order (i.e. catch, caught, caught).

(Then click on Standard test).

8 For the teacher

Spellic.com can easily be used by you as a teacher. You can activate the so called Group login for your user id, and let one or many classes share exercises.

You can easily sort the exercises into groups, and enter messages to be displayed for the pupils when they log in.

The advantage is that the pupils don't have to register as separate users, and you can be sure that the spelling is correct (because you have entered the exercises yourself).

To see how it looks like when you log in as a pupil you can try to log in with user name teacher and password guest.

9 Exercise hard copy

Sometimes you want to exercise "off line" without a computer.

We offer you a very smart way to print out your exercise on paper.

The correct answer is given to the right, so it is easy to cover this part of the paper or fold it away. When you have finished your exercise you just fold it back.

This is what it looks like.
